Re-Occupation of Existing Structures applications are available in the Planning & Development Department. If the applicant is not the property owner, a permission form or copy of the lease must be submitted with the application. For questions regarding re-occupying a building, call 803/642-1520.
Submission must include a completed application and an address verification form. The applicant is responsible for completing the "previous use" and "proposed use" portions of the application. If the previous use is unknown, contact the property owner for that information.
If the change in use shown on the application is significantly different from the previous use, an inspection of the structure and site by a building inspector will be required before approval. An inspection can generally be scheduled and completed by the next business day. If interior renovations are proposed, a building permit may be required.
