Aiken County Litter Control's goal is to encourage all Aiken County citizens not to litter. One method is by making them aware of Litter Control Laws when the occasion arises.

Litter can affect the visible beauty of our community and highways. Some of the negative effects of litter are as follows:
- Potential new businesses and industries locate elsewhere.
- Tourism drops off.
- Pride in community diminishes.
- Health factor diminishes.
- Encourages criminal activity.
- Encourages graffiti.
Every resident can help reduce litter by educating themselves and their families on litter prevention, by being involved in anti-litter programs such as Adopt-a-Highway, by reporting litter offenders to County Litter Enforcement Officers, or by calling Litter Busters toll-free at 877-7-LITTER (877/754-8837). |
