The Collection Division of the Finance Department is responsible for EMS Accounts, Landfill Collections and the Medically Indigent Assistance Program.

We are responsible for the filing of all Medicare Part B, Medicaid and health insurance claims for ambulance transport by Aiken County. If there is no type of insurance then this office is responsible for billing the individual for their ambulance transport. Any outstanding balance is billed a minimum of four (4) times. Ambulance bills can be paid in installments. Please contact our office to arrange a payment schedule.

The Collections office is responsible for the receipt of Landfill payments only. If you have any questions about your charges or have questions about Landfill Operation, please contact Public Works & Engineering at 803/642-1533. Accounts must be paid in full by the 25th of the month to avoid late fees. This office cannot agree to any kind of payment schedule for Landfill. Public Works & Engineering is the only entity that can approve payments for Landfill Accounts.

The Medically Indigent Assistance Program (MIAP) is located in this office. This program assists in the payment of in-patient hospital bills. In order to be considered an individual must be a resident of Aiken County and been admitted into a general hospital within South Carolina. An applicant must be low income, no income or have health insurance that pays less than 80% of the in-patient bill. This program does not pay for out of state hospital admissions, out patient procedures, emergency room visits, physician bills, medicine, physical therapy etc.
