The L. H. Sonny Siau Award of Excellence was named after Mr. Siau because service to Mr. Siaus county and to his fellowman were paramount in his life. Duty, loyalty and honor were the essence of his being. Mr. Siau's motto was to represent the people of South Carolina in a fair and impartial manner while administering tax laws fairly and justly toward all.
Martin Posey was awarded this prestigious award in acknowledgement of his many years of dedication and loyalty to the association and to the people of the State of South Carolina as a tireless proponent of fair property taxation, a faithful friend and comrade, a true statesman personifying Sonny's passion for excellence in public service.
Martin Posey has been employed with Aiken County for 33 years first in law enforcement and later as Aiken County Tax Collector. His major duties include the responsibility of collecting all delinquent taxes for Aiken County. Martin exemplifies unparalleled service to the citizens of Aiken County as well as the State of South Carolina as a member of SCATT (South Carolina Auditors, Treasurers and Tax Collectors Association) where he works diligently on the Legislative Committee. In 2007 the Tax Collectors Association presented Martin the Honorable Jim Clayton Award of Excellence. Beginning May 1, 2009, Martin Posey will begin his tenure as president of the Tax Collectors Association of the Palmetto State.
Martin has been married to his lovely wife, Elizabeth for 41 years. They are the proud parents of two children and two grandchildren. |
