Treasurer's Office Announces Unclaimed Property Program

August 7, 2008
Aiken County Treasurer, Linda Sharpe announced today that she has begun an unclaimed property program for Aiken County taxpayers. The first phase will contain business accounts that have credit balances that have not been claimed.
These balances are due to business closings or amended returns to the SC Department of Revenue.  If you believe you may have unclaimed property held by the Aiken County Treasurer, you can contact the Treasurer's Office at 642-2092 or email treasurer@aikencountysc.gov. You will need to provide information of ownership before funds are disbursed, and any unpaid tax balances must be paid first.

Download the list of business accounts with credit balances has been made available.

This program has been modeled after the one being used by the state treasurer, Converse Chellis III to get unclaimed property back into the hands of the rightful owners.
