Treasurer Improving Service With Lock Box

November 12, 2007
Real Estate tax bills now have a Charlotte, NC address to where all payments will be sent. The Charlotte address is printed on all real estate tax payment coupons. Payments are mailed directly to the processing center in Charlotte, reducing back-log in the Treasurer's office and resulting in a quicker turn around time.

The Aiken County Treasurer's Office has subscribed to a third party processing service through First Citizens Bank, called a lock box service. Rather than mailing real estate tax payments to the Aiken County Treasurer, payment is sent to the lock box service located in Charlotte, NC.

If you do not use the envelope provided, payment must be sent to the Treasurer's Office Aiken address, located on the back of the payment coupon. Additionally, if payment is made after March 16th, 2008, payment must be sent to the Aiken address.

Taxpayers may continue to pay current tax bills using the Treasurer's dropbox at the County Complex, in person at the County Complex, or securely online using the County's eGov Services Center.

Payments for delinquent taxes must be made directly to the Delinquent Tax Collector's office, and must be made by cash, cashier's check, or money order.
